Fun, Engaging Volunteer Position Now Open: Pybus University Coordinator
In 2014, the Pybus Market Charitable Foundation established Pybus University, a unique, educational and fun series of 90-minute classes covering a wide range of topics, including health, wellness, lifestyle enhancement, family activities, gardening, the arts, history, wine, technology and various other areas of general interest. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm during the Fall and Winter, in the main concourse of Pybus Market. The classes are generally free to the public, offering 10 to 12 classes each quarter. All registration is done online.
We are looking for a motivated volunteer (or team of people) to coordinate all aspects of Pybus University, with support from Pybus Market staff. The person in this position should be committed to lifelong learning as a community asset. Strong organizational skills are needed to solicit and coordinate class and instructor selection, set the quarterly schedule and provide onsite support, while maintaining ongoing communication with instructors and Pybus Market staff regarding the development of class descriptions, technical needs and enrollment numbers.
Technical details would include confirming and reminding instructors of their class approximately a week beforehand, identifying special instructor needs (i.e., projector, screen, table set-up, etc) and advising them of enrollment numbers. The coordinator would also track the number of online registrants and send an email reminder to them several days before the scheduled class. Whenever possible, the coordinator would attend the classes and introduce the instructor. This is a volunteer position with support provided by Pybus Market staff. Any out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed by Pybus Market. If interested or for additional information, please contact Steve Robinson at: 509-679-7143 or firstname.lastname@example.org
